Her commitment is unmatched as she uses her platform to inspire, educate, and empower those who often face barriers to entry, both in sports and in life.


Maritza is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and proudly serves as the spokeswoman for Swim1922, a partnership between SGRho and the USA Swimming Foundation aimed to break down barriers and promote water safety.
Through community events, free swim clinics, and targeted outreach, Swim 1922 is making a significant impact in fostering a culture of swimming and safety in Black and Brown communities.
